Second Half

National Half 2010

National Half, March 17,  2012, 2:07:30 (with Brendon)

This morning, after 4 + years, I ran my second half. The Hibiscus.
The participating Stroller Warriors®, met for dinner last night to kick off a little mom’s night off, hotel overnighter celebrating, and then met again in the wee hours of the morning for the 5:30 start time.

These silly girls in their trash bag ponchos the night before.

Hotel crew. We did in fact turn off the tv and go to bed at 9pm. Unfortunately, I can’t say I got much sleep.

While I didn’t beat my old time, I came as close as I could’ve and owe Payge much gratitude for helping me through the longest last two miles. While the hill at mile two was steep, the hill at 11 was just plain painful and getting to the conservatively marked finish shoot seemed to take forever.

Will I run another half? Absolutely! For me personally, I need to train all the way to 13 miles, which is the biggest difference in my training between the two halves and probably why I derailed a bit mentally at mile 11.

Finished!!! Hibiscus Half, May 25, 2014, 2:08:02 (+32 seconds)

I’m so thankful for my hubby who watched the mongrels so I could stay downtown last night, cleaned the house before I arrived home and is currently making a Bostons pizza run as I type. I picked a good one!

Dinner by hubs

Vance made me a late lunch/early dinner before I headed downtown last night. This is how I was able to only eat salad for dinner.

  1. You ROCK, my friend!!! Look at what you can do!!! I’m thoroughly impressed and excited for you. It sounds like you had a great time too… especially beforehand. 😉

    • Hehe. This is what happens when stay at home moms have a night away. Even if it means having to run 13 miles to get the night off! Thank you!! One of these days, we’ll be running side by side.
